All About ITRA Referees

The Irish Tag Rugby Association (ITRA) prides itself on having 200+ professional Tag Referees officiating your games.  We pioneered the sport 11 years ago in 2000, and strive year on year to be the leaders of ‘Tag’ with innovative new Laws to improve overall playing standards.

ITRA Referees have a great passion for the sport and take pride in the overall control and successful ‘game management’ of your Tag matches!  Our Referees dedicate time to annual Referee Training Workshops and Refresher Courses to officiate a large amount of matches across our Leagues, Beach Tag and Tag Festivals.

We realise the benefit of having the most experienced Tag Referees in the country Refereeing your Tag matches on a weekly basis.  Therefore ITRA looks upon this task as a job for Referees and they are paid accordingly.
The result is a more professional approach and attitude towards officiating matches and constantly improving standards, thereby giving teams a better overall experience and confidence in the match officials at your ITRA venues.

Each year, ITRA recruits a number of male / female ‘Rookie’ beginner Referees as new blood is always needed to grow our game.  Referees must be 18 years or older.  If you would like to join the ‘ITRA Team’ as a Tag Referee, please sign up to our form below.

BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN ITRA REFEREE

1. SAVE MONEY! 
ITRA Tag Refereeing is a Part-Time job.  Referees get remunerated for officiating matches over either one or a multiple of nights or weekends.
 
2. REFEREE KIT
You will receive the an official ITRA Referee Jersey, as well as a whistle and scorecard holder (with red and yellow cards).

3. MEET NEW PEOPLE
Tag Refereeing is a great way to meet new and interesting people and broaden your social life. At the venue, you will be part of the “Referee Team” coordinated by a Tag Venue Manager so you get a great feeling of belonging to a club.

4. KEEP FIT AND EXERCISE
Ref’n Tag allows you to get “get active, get Alive Outside” and involved in an exciting, healthy outdoors sport during the long summer evenings.

Please do not hesitate to contact Kats in the Ref Dept between 9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri.  As most tag matches kick off from 19:00 onwards... it is very important you do not leave it last minute to cancel.
