International Tag Federation

In 2014, to celebrate our 15th year running Tag leagues in Ireland, we became an official member of the International Tag Federation (ITF).

The ITF was formed at a meeting held between Oztag Australia and New Zealand Tag Football Incorporated in Auckland in the summer of 2008. Attendees included Perry Haddock (Oztag Australia), Claude Iusitini (NZTFI), Darryl Bovaird (NZTFI) and Jasoynn Koroheke (NZTFI). Items discussed varied from Tag Laws to Equipment, Organisational Structure to Constitution and Merchandising to Upcoming Events.

As a result of this initial meeting, an International Board was formed with Oztag Australia acting as the Secretariat, bearing the costs of running the organisation until the international body was officially up and running.

It was an honour for to be recognised as the leading tag organisation in Ireland and we were delighted to accept the challenge of competing against the other leading nations in forthcoming Tag World Cups.

Our International status has allowed us develop a pathway for players to play Tag, firstly, for your Region (Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Kildare & London) and then, if selected, for Ireland. You must be playing at the highest level to be eligible to play Regional Tag so, if you are interested in playing for your Region and potentially Ireland, make sure you are playing in your local Premiership, Women’s Only or Men’s Only league this summer!

The Irish Tag Rugby Association is delighted to announce that the first Northern Hemisphere Tag World Cup will be held in Limerick in 2021. This is an amazing opportunity for Irish Tag players to showcase their skills on the world stage!
