Tag Rugby in Milltown
Alexandra College is our biggest venue in terms of participating teams, with 44 teams playing weekly even in the coldest months. It's close to public transport, close to a great pub, and the teams love it there.
ABOUT THE VENUE
The pitches at Alexandra College run parallel to the Milltown Luas stop, making it by far the most convenient way to access the venue. The 41 and 66 buses stop at the front entrance, with a 600m walk to the back. There is ample bike and car parking.
Teams playing in Alexandra typically frequent the famed Dropping Well, which is a short walk from the front of the college and serves excellent food in addition to its cosy bar fare.
The venue boasts two high-standard hockey astro pitches. We split our bookings between the sand- and water-based pitches, although the footwear requirements are the same. At this venue you can wear astro boots/runners or trainers. No studs, even moulded or plastic, are permitted. On a hockey pitch, which is flat, your studs can't go into the turf and you'll put yourself and the playing surface at risk. Showers and changing facilities are available.
Milltown tag is all social, and is popular with beginner teams looking to get a foothold in the game. We run mixed leagues Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and a popular women's social league on Tuesdays.
Wednesday kick-offs are between 18:45 and 21:00.
