Irish Tag Rugby is delighted to announce that Ireland will send four teams to France on the weekend of October 12th to compete in the inaugural "Bouclier de Brennan", an international tag series between Ireland and France.
The tournament takes place in Fronton in the South of France, near Toulouse. The series involves four tests each in Women's Open, Men's Open, Mixed Open, and Men's 50s. This is the first-ever series between Ireland and France, whose teams have previously met at the 2023 ITF Tag World Cup in Limerick.
The 4 tests take place over two days, with two in each category on each of the 12th and 13th October.
The tournament is named after Trevor Brennan, an important figure in Irish-French rugby relations, who will present the trophy to the winning nation and host the after-party in his bar in Toulouse. Brennan represented Leinster Rugby in addition to St. Mary's College RFC, Barnhall RFC, and Bective Rangers before a five-year stint with Toulouse between 2002 and 2007. During this time he won two Heineken Cups as Toulouse reached three consecutive finals between 2003 and 2005.
